Dear Members of
the Forum, You are invited to participate at the V Meeting
of the “European Forum on Antiphospholipid Antibodies” which will take
place in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, on December 2 and 3, 2005. Drs.
Ricard Cervera and Josep Font are the organizers of this meeting. As you know, the Forum meetings are not
considered as congresses but as informal meetings of clinicians/scientists
that are active in the field of antiphospholipid antibodies. It is organized
to discuss the ongoing and new projects proposed by members of the Forum. In the next meeting, we are planning to have 4
half-day sessions devoted to Laboratory Standardization, Basic Research,
Obstetric Research and Clinical/Epidemiological Research, respectively. Each session will contain two parts: A)
"State of the Art Overview" that will be given by "top"
experts in the different fields and that will cover not only a review of the
current knowledge but, more importantly, will address new topics to be
investigated in the future, thus suggesting new projects for the Forum; and
B) "Work in Progress" that will be oral communications presented by
the coordinators of the ongoing and future Forum projects as well as
discussions of these projects by all the Forum members. Additionally, the
Forum meeting will include some time devoted to present the rules and board
of the “European Society of Antiphospholipid Antibodies” that will be ready
for the meeting. As in previous meetings, those participants that are members of the
Forum - or invited to be a member because of their activity in the field - will not have to pay for the registration, will be offered free
entrance to the venue, coffee/tea breaks, a dinner and several printed
documents, but will have to arrange by themselves the travel and hotel
accommodation in Barcelona. However, the organizers will help all the
participants in searching hotel rooms in the area near the Forum
venue (additional information will be provided in 1-2 months at the First Announcement Flyer containing the program and
information on the venue, hotels, travels...). Please tell us (e-mail
to: rcervera@clinic.ub.es) if you plan to
come or not to the meeting (even if still partially uncertain). Also, if you
are coordinating any of the on-going or accepted future Forum projects*,
please confirm that you will give a “Work in Progress” short talk (30
minutes, including Discussion) during the meeting. This will help us to know
the number of persons expected and complete the Final Program. Those members
who acknowledge reception of the present message will receive the First
Announcement Flyer. Hoping we will
meet in December in Barcelona, Ricard Cervera,
MD, PhD, FRCP Josep Font, MD, PhD, FRCP Angela Tincani, MD, PhD Marie-Claire Boffa, MD, PhD . New proposals for Forum
projects are welcome. Should you have any new proposal, please send it to
Angela Tincani (ati.gba@tin.it) and
Marie-Claire Boffa (marie-claire.boffa@wanadoo.fr) for review. |
